Setting up Eudora
Before calling SAS, please make sure the following settings are correct. With Eudora open, setup is done through the Tools/Options menu.
Getting Started:
- Real Name - This is where you enter how the user wants their name to appear in an email.
- Email Address – userid@mtu.edu
- Mail Server – email.mtu.edu
- Username – userid
- SMTP Server – email.mtu.edu
Checking Mail:
- Mail Server – email.mtu.edu
- User Name – userid
- ‘Send on check’ should be checked.
- ‘Save password’ can be checked if the user does not want to enter their password each time.
- Secure Sockets when Receiving should be set to ‘Required, Alternate Port’
Incoming Mail:
- ‘Server Configuration’ should be set to IMAP
- ‘When I delete a message:’ should point to the Trash folder under Dominant.
Sending Mail:
- Secure Sockets when Sending should be set to ‘Required, STARTTLS’
The other categories contain options which may or may not be useful to the user. These settings include the way mail is displayed, color labels, where attachments are stored and others.
Setting Up Directory Services in Eudora
- Start Eudora
- Go to tools->directory services
- Remove all of the databases in the list
- Under protocols, select finger and click on new database
- Enter MTU for the server name
- Enter mtu.edu as the host name
- Leave the port alone
- Put a check mark on the database MTU
- Test it by putting your user id into the query box and click query
- Your finger information should come up
- Close directory services and your done
