Roxio Easy CD Creator User Instructions

Creating a Data CD

  1. Goto Start, Programs, Roxio Easy CD Creator and select “Project Selector”
  2. If you want to just copy a CD to another CD goto step 12
  3. Insert Blank CD-R or CD-RW media into the CD-Burning Drive.
  4. If you want to make a data CD, select “make a data CD” and then select “dataCD project”
  5. Either Drag-and-Drop the files you want to copy onto a CD into the bottom right pane of the window or find them in the top pane and hit the add button in the middle of the screen to add them to your data CD.
  6. When all of the files you want to add are in the bottom right pane push the red burn button in the middle of the screen
  7. In the window that pops up, select the write speed that you would like to burn at (slower speeds are more reliable)
  8. Be sure to check the “Buffer underrun Prevention” check box if available.
  9. Push the start Recording button and wait for it to finish burning the disk.
  10. When the disk is done recording, push the “ok” button, followed by the “no” when it asks you if you want to save your project.
  11. Remove your disk and close out of Roxio if you are done.
  12. If you want to make a copy of a CD select “disk copier” followed by “disk copier” again
  13. When the disk copier pops up, insert the media you want to copy into the drive.
  14. Select the write speed that you want to copy at (slower is better)
  15. Make sure the “Buffer Underrun Prevention” is selected if available
  16. Hit the Copy button and allow the media to be copied to your hard drive
  17. When prompted remove the CD you are copying and insert a blank CD-R or CD-RW in the drive and click next.
  18. When the disk is done copying close out of Roxio and remove your newly copied disk.


Steps to Creating a Compilation disk using Easy CD Creator 5 Basic

  1. Launch the Music CD Project within the Project Selector.
  2. Wait for the program to initialize, and now you should have an Untitled Music CD Project layout.
  3. Insert you CD you want to record from, into your drive. Now select your drive letter where the CD was inserted. You can do this by clicking on the drop down menu where it says, “Select your Source files”.
  4. Once you have your audio files listed. Right Click on the Track you want to record and select “Convert to Audio file”. A dialog box should come up and ask you where you would like to save the file. Select a folder that you’ll remember.
  5. Do this to all the audio tracks from each CD that you want to record. When you have finished converting all your audio tracks browse to the folder where the audio files are stored.
  6. Now you should have all your tracks listed. Now drag and drop all your audio files to the bottom of the layout. You can also highlight the file and click Add. But be sure not to exceed the amount available on your CDR disk. The blue bar at the bottom will tell you how much available space you have left on your CDR disk.
  7. Insert a blank CDR disk and click on “Record”.
  8. A Record CD Setup dialog will come up. Click on options on the bottom right hand corner. This will give you your options on how you would like to record your disk. We recommend using the Disk-At-Once option for audio, and Track-At-Once for data.
  9. Once you have everything selected click on “Start Recording”.
  10. Now the recording process should start, and when its finished your CD will be ready to play in all CD players.


Steps to Creating an Audio disk using Easy CD Creator 5 Basic

  1. Launch the Music CD Project within the Project Selector.
  2. Wait for the program to initialize, and now you should have an Untitled Music CD Project layout.
  3. Browse to the location of your audio files. You can do this by clicking on the drop down menu where it says, “Select your Source files”. Now locate the folder where your files are located.
  4. Once you have your audio files listed. Click and drag the files to the bottom of the layout, or you can highlight the audio file then click on “Add”.
  5. Do this to all the audio files that you want to record. But be sure not to exceed the amount available on your CDR disk. The blue bar at the bottom will tell you how much available space you have left on your CDR disk.
  6. Now that you have all your tracks selected, insert your CDR disk into your CDRW drive.
  7. Click on “Record”.
  8. A Record CD Setup dialog will come up. Click on options on the bottom right hand corner. This will give you your options on how you would like to record your disk. We recommend using the Disk-At-Once option for audio, and Track-At-Once for data.
  9. Once you have everything selected click on “Start Recording”.
  10. Now the recording process should start, and when its finished your CD will be ready to play in all CD players.


Steps to using DirectCD

  1. Launch the DirectCD for the Project Selector.
  2. Now a DirectCD Format Utility will come up.
  3. Insert your CDR/CDRW disk into your CDRW drive.
  4. Click on Format CD.
  5. Now just wait till the format process is finished. After its finished it will let you know that the disk is Ready for Read Write Access.
  6. At this point go into Windows Explorer or My Computer.
  7. Now you can drag and drop all the files you want to copy directly to the CDRW drive. You can also use Cut, Copy, and Paste.
  8. Once you have all the files that you want on the disk, you can now eject the disk. Once you click on the eject button on the CDRW drive you should get a “Close Options" dialog box.
  9. Within the Close Dialog box you should have an option to “Close to Read on Any Computer". This does exactly what it says. The other option you will have is to close to UDF v1.5. This will allow you to come back at a later time to add more files to the disk. But this disk can only be read by the CDRW drive that it has been created on. That is until you close the disk to read on any computer.
  10. These are the basic steps to creating a DirectCD disk. Also within the DirectCD Format Utility you will also have the options to erase a CDRW disk, Scandisk to fix any errors on your disk, and Undelete.
