[edit] SAS Projector and Laptop Use Policy
SAS has four laptops and three projectors available to loan out to SAS customers. The laptops are a mid-level Dells with a 15 inch LCD screen and a CD/RW DVD Rom drive. This combination should exceed most customers’ needs for multimedia and quality.
If you are borrowing the equipment to be used off campus SAS will setup and demo the equipment for you. This should avoid surprises when you arrive to do your presentation. If you are doing an off campus presentation SAS recommends that your presentation be self contained. If you have questions about any aspect of your presentation consultations are always free.
[edit] Guidelines
- SAS needs 2 weeks notice for loaning out equipment, the equipment is first come first served.
- The laptop and projector may be loaned out for no more than one business week unless special permission is granted from SAS.
- If you want your presentation on CD, SAS can burn it to CD once the presentation is finalized. Please allow time to burn and test the CD. Try to do this the day before you leave.
- It is recommended that you take part in a demo on the use of the laptop and projector, SAS will arrange a demo with you.
- There is no charge to borrow the equipment. However any damage or loss will be recovered by SAS.
- This laptop is for presentations only, not for use as a loaner machine. SAS has a special laptop to use as a loaner/sick leave use machine.
- The projector bulbs are expensive ($250.00) and should only be changed by a SAS employee. SAS will have a spare bulb on hand in the office should there be problems. Bulbs have an average life span of 3500 hours.
- The laptop will be setup to dial into MichNet for locations inside of Michigan, and is able to be hooked to wired Ethernet and wireless networks.
- Users traveling with the laptop will need to test dial-up connectivity the day before they leave campus.
- Users using wired Ethernet or wireless networking at locations off campus should contact the hotel or technical staff at their location for connectivity problems.
- No software should be installed by the users under any circumstance.
