Setting up AutoUpdate

  • 1. Double click the magnifying glass in the task bar in the bottom right corner of your screen, this is the VirusScan Console.

  • 2. Double click the AutoUpdate icon in the VirusScan Console.

  • 3. Click Configure.

  • 4. The window should now be showing a list of Update sites that are setup on your McAfee, there might be a couple showing or maybe none at all.

  • 5. If there are some there, look for one named "Network Associates"
  • 6. If Network Associates is there, look to the right of it to see if it is enabled or disabled.
    • If it is enabled that’s good, it is setup and you can click ok.
    • If it is disabled, double click on Network Associates, and at the top next to the name is a check box for enabled, put a check in it. Everything should look like the picture below.
  • 7. If Network Associates WASN’T on the list then you have to add it. Click Add from the buttons on the right. Type Network Associates in for the site name. And type: "ftp.nai.com/virusdefs/4.x" in for the ftp site. Everything should look like the picture below.

  • 8. Now click OK, and OK once more.
  • 9. Now everyone should be at the same spot again. At the AutoUpdate properties and there should be two tabs at the top: Program and Schedule.
  • 10. Click on the Schedule tab.

  • 11. Make sure the enable box is checked at the top. And choose "Daily" in the next area down if it is not already chosen. Finally, 12:00 should be entered into the start at time.
  • 12. Click ok and your McAfee is all set to update every day at noon.
